    ZAMPIGHI, Eugenio

Eugenio Zampighi Italian painter (1859 - 1944).

Spending three years in Rome after winning a scholarship when he was twenty years of age, he was able to pick up on the styles of many of the Great Masters of painting. For the fourth year of his scholarship, he chose to visit Florence, and then decided to settle there for a while in 1884. He then had obtained many of the necessary foundations for a style based primarily on the past.

It was at this time that his mature style came to its fruition, for in Florence, he began painting the beautiful genre scenes he is so well-known for. His works, even in his own time, were rather readily sold, and he received some very important commissions both from local dealers and those abroad.

His mastery of perspective and his ability to import such memorable emotion in his figures make him a rather exceptional artist. Painting in times of war and depression, Zampighi was able to paint genuinely happy figures, reminding his viewers of better times both in the past and in the future.

Made an honorable member of the Modena Academy for his great talent in painting, his work has become highly sought after by collectors around the globe, especially in Italy, the United States, Canada, and Australia.
